Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was a teacher of Language Arts in all grades. When I retired, I finally had time to write Poetry and essays. During COVID, I decided to write a cozy mystery. After the Wild Rose Press published the first book, I decided to continue the series. I am busier now than ever.
What event or experience in your life affected you as a writer?
When COVID hit, I found myself watching Hallmark and reading cozy mysteries, mostly because of their happy endings. This inspired me to try my hand at mystery with a hint of romance and a happy ending.
Why did you become a romance writer?
Technically, I am a cozy mystery writer, but my books contain three ongoing romances. Some are resolved in book 3, but not all.
What inspired the idea for this book?
I spent several summers visiting my grandchildren in the Berkshire Mountains, which was quite a different experience for a city girl. My two main characters were based on people I know, a widow who carves out a career after her husband dies and an escapee from ISIS in Lebanon. My father’s family is from Lebanon, so I was able to incorporate many things from that culture. I also love books where amateur detectives have to solve the mystery when the sheriff is inept.
Can you tell us about any other upcoming books, series, or writing plans?
I signed the contract for the third and probably final book in The Berkshire Mystery Series, Dabbling in Danger, and am anxiously waiting for my editor to get back to me with the edits.
