  1. Hi Vonnie, Your writing goals sound amazing – 4 books a year. Wow, you really do have to be organized. It sounds like you keep track on your computer with separate file folders for each book. Do you also have a calendar to track your progress on? I keep a calendar just for my writing projects.

  2. I have a WORD file with book titles, names of main characters, and sub-genre of romance since I mainly write three–contemporary, paranormal with bear shifters, and romantic suspense. Some have due dates if they’re contracted. Most don’t since I also self-publish..

All are written in red and as I finish the book I change that book’s title and info to black. I have four books planned per year, although with my husband’s health, I have to realize three is more realistic. I’m retired, so I write roughly six hours a day, every day, Unless it’s movie matinee and dinner out day–then buttered popcorn rules.

I had a year a few years ago where my agent signed me for a 3-book series with HarperCollins and another 3-book series with Random House. She wasn’t forthcoming about the dates until I got the contracts and discovered I was obligated to write 6 books in one year, with the final book for each house due on the SAME day. It was a year of madness and stress and migraines. I fired her. I work without an agent now. I want full control. I want to enjoy the journey, producing the best I can and improving with every book.
